FAQ's
How can I get my email?

Many times, there is already an email client (email program) installed on your  computer. e.g.Windows  users have MS Outlook Express. If you have already gone through the instruction sheets, then Outlook Express will already be configured to send and receive you email.

What about Newsgroups?
Most email clients also let you view newsgroups.  Outlook Express, Netscape, and Eudora all let you view newsgroups.  When setting up your mail program, you will be asked if you would like to set up a "news account" after clicking on YES, then it will ask you for your news server, which is: news.nep.net

Sometimes I can't even log on?
On some occasions, you may experience difficulty logging on to the internet.   This is caused by three main things.  1, is that your computer does not have the proper information needed to connect to NEP.Internet. 2. is that, NEP.Internet may be upgrading to better serve you (most times, you will be notified about such times via email)  3. is that NEP.Internet is experiencing technical difficulties, and is working hard on getting the problem fixed.  In all three cases, you may give us a  call. [see contact]

Frequent Disconnects?
There are many different reasons why you could be getting disconnected.  One could be that your modem maybe working improperly. What you want to do is, go to your control panel.  Then double click on Internet.  Click on the 'Connection' Tab.  Click on the Setting's button.  Then on Advanced, and you will see the "disconnect time".  By default it will be 20 minutes.  You can either 'disable' it, or just make the number 99.

Downloads don't complete, or are slow?
A few main factors come into play with Downloading from the Internet.  The most common problem with downloading from the internet, is that the server you are downloading from (i.e. download.com) may be slow or maxed out because that file is so popular.  You may want to try downloading that file at a "non-peak" time of the day.  Also, in most cases, they offer multiple servers to download from, if you have problems with one, try another, to help clear up the slowness.

What is an MP3?
An MP3 is a compressed file format.  This format was invented to send large compressed music files over the internet.  You may ask, why is it so popular?   Well, the main reason is, a whole mp3 song is only 5Mb on average, so it is a fast, easy download.  It also maintains the digital CD sound quality.  The copyright laws on Mp3 files are about 1 million pages long.  So we don't recommend downloading songs that you don't already own.  If you do, you are doing so at your own risk.

If your email, or internet question is not among this list, please email  help@nep.net or call 570-785-7111.
